PT Suzuki Indomobil Sales (SIS)

For the sake of electrification models, PT Suzuki Indomobil Sales (SIS) injected the Karimun Wagon R dead for the domestic market. However, the production of this model continues to meet demand from abroad.

Karimun Wagon R itself is a vehicle produced locally by PT SIS and fills the low cost green car (LCGC) city car segment. In addition to being marketed in Indonesia, Suzuki also exports Karimun Wagon R to several other countries in East Asia.

The dismissal of Suzuki Karimun Wagon R sales in Indonesia is due to the manufacturer's plans that will prepare for the era of electrification in Indonesia. Indeed, until now PT SIS has not released a model of pure electric or hybrid powered vehicles in Indonesia.

Although it has announced that it will stop selling Karimun Wagon R in Indonesia, PT SIS has not announced a replacement model.

Currently, SIS is still preparing some of the things needed to present electrification vehicles in Indonesia.

In its official statement, Suzuki said in order to support the government's accelerated program in reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 29 percent by 2030, Suzuki Indonesia is committed to supporting the program by focusing on the development of electrification vehicles.

Shodiq Wicaksono, Managing Director of Suzuki Indonesia, said Suzuki will focus on electrified vehicles that are affordable for consumers.

"We are preparing to introduce electrification vehicles to the public. However, we also have to be observant to see the purchasing power of Indonesian people in general at this time. For that reason, with various considerations and inputs from various parties, Suzuki will enter the era of electrification through hybrid technology," he said.

Suzuki's hybrid technology development is the company's first step in introducing electrification technology that is in line with the current conditions and needs of Indonesian society. In the future, Suzuki will continue to innovate to develop other electrified vehicles gradually.

"It is with a heavy heart that we have to stop the production of karimun wagon R for the domestic market. However, we will be presenting electrified vehicles to Suzuki's loyal customers in the not too distant future," he said.
